Sailesh R wins 1st SRM Rating Open 2025

Seven players - Sailesh R, Hari Ganesh T, Vignesh N, Sivan S Roshan, Abinandhan R, Ajjesh J R and Ayyappan P Santhana Prabu scored 7/8 each at 1st SRM Rating Open 2025. Sailesh won the tournament due to better tie-break scores. The remaining six were placed second to seventh respectively. Apart from Ajjesh, the remaining six remained undefeated. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹500000. The top three prizes were ₹50000 + tropy, ₹40000 and ₹30000 each. The four-day eight round Rating Open tournament was organized by Golden Knights Chess Academy and Master Mind Chess Academy at Major Dhyan Chand Indoor Stadium, SRM IST, Kattankulathur in Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu from 15th to 18th May 2025. Top seven score 7/8

Sailesh R and Vignesh N were coleaders 6.5/7, heading into the final round. Sailesh drew with Vignesh in the final round to become the champion, Vignesh finished third. Vakeesh S lost to Hari Ganesh T who secured a second place. This was Sailesh's second consecutive rating tournament victory in May. He won three consecutive Classical rating tournaments in Tamil Nadu in 17 days. That is an incredible performance which shows consistency.

Sajlesh R scored an unbeaten 7/8, won the tournament on tie-breaks and gained 8.8 Elo rating points

A total of 443 players including an IM took part from all over the country. The four-day eight round Rating Open tournament was organized by Golden Knights Chess Academy and Master Mind Chess Academy at Major Dhyan Chand Indoor Stadium, SRM IST, Kattankulathur in Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu from 15th to 18th May 2025. The time control of the event was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment per move.
