Mandar Pradip Lad perfect at 7th Late Chandrakant Naik Memorial Rapid Rating Open 2024

Mandar Pradip Lad scored a perfect 9/9 to win 7th Late Shri Chandrakant Naik Memorial Rapid Rating Open 2024. He finished a full point ahead of the competition. Top seed - IM Ethan Vaz and Dmitry Bezstrakhov scored 8/9 each. They secured second and third place respectively according to tie-breaks. Mandar defeated Ethan in Round 7. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹100000. The top three prizes were ₹20000, ₹12000 and ₹8000 along with a trophy each. The two-day nine round Rapid Rating tournament was organized by Quepem Taluka Chess Association at Govt. College of Arts Commerce and Science Quepem Goa in Goa on 5th and 6th October 2024. This is Mandar's sixth overall tournament triumph of the year.

Mandar wins the tournament with a 100% score

Mandar Pradip Lad made a blazing start scoring 8/8. He was a full point ahead of the rest, going into the final round. A draw would have sufficed for him to become a clear champion. The reigning Goa State Senior champion defeated Mark Telles Joshua to win the tournament with a perfect 9/9. Top seed of the tournament, IM Ethan Vaz won against Devesh Anand Naik to finish second. Dmitry Bezstrakhov scored a full point versus Atharva Sawal to finish third. Ethan's elder brother, Edrick Vaz scored 7/9 to finish tenth.

Mandar Pradip Lad scored a perfect 9/9, finished a full point ahead of the rest and gained 71.6 Elo rating points

A total of 269 players including an IM took part from all over the country and one from France in this two-day nine round Rapid Rating Open tournament. It was organized by Quepem Taluka Chess Association at Govt. College of Arts Commerce and Science Quepem Goa in Goa on 5th and 6th October 2024. The time control of the event was 25 minutes + 5 seconds increment per move.
